Happy New Year from Coastal Atlantic Travel!

St. Simons Lighthouse Museum

Greetings from the Florida/Georgia line!

After a long hiatus the Coastal Atlantic Traveler is back up and running, with tons of new content planned for 2022. And even though it’s been a long couple of years, that hasn’t kept us from tracking the latest happenings along the southeast Atlantic coast from The Golden Isles down to St. Augustine.

Local’s Travel Handbook is back!

Just a few of the things planned for 2022 include the continuation of the Local’s Travel Handbook brand, with two new guides covering St. Simons Island off the coast of Georgia, as well as Amelia Island located just an hour south in sunny Florida. These two guides will maintain the same spirit as the first guide we wrote covering things to do on Jekyll Island from a local perspective, with the St. Simons guide set to release spring of 2022.

Local supporting local 2.0

Were not for locals reaching out and extending their financial support to their favorite restaurants, coffee shops, independent bookstores, souvenir shops and apparel stores in the midst of the pandemic lockdowns beginning in early 2020, the very places that make these communities so special were in danger of being replaced by big box stores and corporate franchises.

That doesn’t mean every business was left unscathed by the circumstances surrounding the last couple of years, and many stores were forced to close. But without locals helping other locals, it could’ve been a whole lot worse.

That’s why we’ll be working extra hard in 2022 to do what the Local’s Travel Handbook brand does best: put a spotlight on the local business owners and residents who have become hallmarks of their respective neighborhoods, and folks that make these coastal towns so incredibly special. We’ll also be partnering with local business owners such as Florida real estate agents, historic tour guides, musicians, coastal outfitters, restaurant owners and more to bring you the very best content from a local’s perspective delivered right to you.

Since the beginning the primary goal of The Coastal Atlantic Traveler was to be just like a friend of yours living on the southeast Atlantic coast, bringing you the best insider information on things to do and places to see from a local’s perspective that you can’t find on the big search engines, and to prevent you from falling into tourist traps.

We’re looking forward to continuing that mission well into 2022 and beyond.

Happy New Year! Wishing you and yours a safe, happy, and healthy 2022.
